The Rooster’s Ridge

This trail is one of the most beautiful ones in Trascau Mountains, it goes a bit longer than other trails, but it’s worth all the effort.

On Valea Ariesului, after passing the Borzești Gorge, from the village of Buru the road turns south towards the Trascăului depression.

At the base of the cliffs are gathered the villages of Rimetea, Coltești, Vălișoara and Izvoarele, old settlements recognized for the iron mining of the 14th century, but also for the culture and traditions of the Hungarians who live here.

The most important tourist attractions are: Colții Trascaului (1113m) and Piatra Secuiului (1128m), the peak of Ardașcheia (1250m), the ruins of the Colțești fortress, the Vălişoara Gorge, the Rimetea Ethnographic Museum and the Rimetea monastery.
