let's conquer the outdoors

Never before has humanity needed Nature so much. Never before was there such a need to re-connect to everything that lives outdoors and not between the walls of a building. All that is artificial seems to want to conquer our lives, more and more. Let’s begin turning things around, in our favor. Let’s re-connect to Nature and bring humans, back to the Great Outdoors.

Thorn Reserve Trail - Comana, Romania

The path is located just one hour from Bucharest, on the banks of the Neajlov River, a tributary of the Argeș, which flows into the Neajlov Delta. The path’s name comes from the forest thorn, Ruscus aculeatus, a Mediterranean shrub with thorns, evergreen leaves and red fruits, protected by law and directly linked to the legend of Vlad the Impaler. This says that the thorn appeared here after Vlad Țepeş was killed in the place called “Walnut Fountain” inside the park. The plant grows under the trees in the forest, therefore it must be carefully looked for at the base of the trees.

trails

Theme trails or play trails are a great way to teach kids how to hike, as the stations and various educational content, included in the trail’s steps, help kids focus on the fun instead of their tired legs. After the hard work of hiking on a trail, you just have to stop and look back and see how far you’ve come, not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually.

Testimonials

As long as we keep the fun, the awesome part of the hiking trail linked to some educational content, everybody finds out that they can actually enjoy learning, while taking fun hikes designed for the entire family, with themed activities scattered along the trail to keep all participants happy and motivated.

As a mom of a beautiful princess, i am always looking to challenge her, to create situations that enhance her knowledge, but in the same time, offer her different views about our world. We are big hikers and when we found Play-Trails we were the happiest parents! When we go hiking now, there are no more excuses to finish our trail earlier or to stop after just a few steps. Now she is the one that asks to go further, being so curious about what's hiding under the next rock, behind the next tree or flower. We are amazed of this change, every day!

Traveller&Mom

Let me tell you about my experience with this awesome website, that finally convinced my kids to come and explore the great outdoors with me! Since we discovered Play-Trails they challenge me to go outside almost every day. Before this happened, i couldn't get them out of their room no matter what i did. It's a miracle to me that this happened, with no effort at all from my side. Thank you for that!

Jason Voight

Hiker&Dad

As a teacher, i first found this website when i was looking for new educational resources online. I could't believe my eyes that someone actually thought about creating such a magnificent website, that parents and teachers can use, at the same time, to spend more time outside with their kids and to re-connect to nature. I am using it every day now, at school and with my own kids, and we spend much more time having fun together!
